Excessive movement of a suspension balljoint

An example of excessive movement found in a Renault Scenic balljoint when presented for test.

You can see the movement at the balljoint as a side to side movement as the wheel is rocked at the quarter to three position, you will also note the CV boot is not securely attached to it’s housing, also a failure.

The vehicle presenter did say she’d heard a slight knocking/tapping sound coming from that area of the car when going over bumps, the tyre had also recently been changed as it had worn out on the inner edge.
